Why are some people born poor, but others born rich?” The Lord Buddha explains how kamma accounts for a person's fortune or misfortune.

This Dhamma Discussion will be based on "Apannaka Sutta". (found in Majjhima Nikaya, 60th Sutta)- preached to a gathering of brahmins in Sālā. On informing the Buddha that they had no favorite teacher in whom they had confidence, they were told that they should embrace and fulfill this Doctrine (apannaka-dhamma) on how to navigate skillfully through the maze of wrong views.

This Dhamma Discussion will be based on “Vitakkasanthana Sutta — The Relaxation of Thoughts” (found in Majjhima Nikaya, 20th discourse). In this particular discourse, The Buddha offers five practical methods of responding wisely to unskillful thoughts. They are: replacing an unwholesome thought with a wholesome thought; examining the danger of the distracting thought; forgetting the thought; stilling the unwholesome thought formation; crushing mind with mind to forcefully drive away the unwholesome thought.
